Google has changed the way we live, but nothing much was changed on the Google homepage in terms of appearance. For the first time after several years, you are going to get the most sought after feature on Google for Desktop or Laptops. The company now allows you to enable the Google Search Dark mode for PC users.
If you don’t have this Google Search Dark mode on your Laptop or PC yet, do not worry, as the company has announced that it will roll out the feature slowly over the next few weeks. We have been fortunate enough to obtain this Google Dark mode feature in 2021, and we will now show you how you can also enable the same.

How to enable Google Search Dark mode for Desktop or Laptop users?
- Launch https://www.google.com on your browser in Desktop or Laptop
- Click on “Settings” at the bottom right corner of the Google Search page and click on “Search Settings.” You can also click on “Dark Theme” to toggle the dark theme on or off in a single click as shown in the image below.
- Choose “Appearance” on this page.
(This “Appearance” link might not appear for everyone as this feature is being rolled out to all users slowly in the next couple of weeks. By the time you read this post, there are chances that Google has already enabled this feature for you. So do not panic if you don’t have this option yet, instead please be patient.)
- After clicking “Appearance”, you will see “Device default”, “Dark”, and “Light” options.
- Choose the desired option and eventually click on “Save” to save the settings.
If you choose “Device default”, the Google Search page will adjust based on the default light settings of your Desktop or Laptop. Choosing “Dark” or “Light” will enable the dark or light mode by overriding the default light settings of your machine.
Why do you need Google Dark Mode on your laptop or Desktop?
Eye problem among the masses today is not a new thing. If you notice any of your friends who works in IT or has a desk job, you can see that he/she is more likely to have vision issues and rely on spectacles or lenses to carry out their daily activities. Moreover, the eye issues top the common woes of Work from Home protestors, a report from Economic Times says. The Dark mode helps in reducing the eye issue to an extent as it doesn’t strain your eyes.

Thank you, Google.
We would like to thank Google for finally adding this feature to Google Search. It will bring down eye issues to an extent as most of us use Google Search on Desktop for our work and daily activities. For your information, the company began testing this feature on Desktop in December 2020. However, the dark mode was already available on Google Search for mobile since May 2020.
