You can find this difference clearly by comparing your activities with anyone who’s at least 20 or 30 years older than you, or maybe with anyone else who’s not tech-savvy. All the operating systems, including Microsoft’s Windows OS, played a significant role in bringing this change.

Windows 11 Pros

  • Android Apps on Windows 11 PC

The support to run the Android apps is perhaps the most significant update of Windows 11 and the best Windows 11 advantage. Since an iPhone user is more likely to use a Macbook laptop than a Windows Laptop or Desktop, almost all the Windows 11 users are likely to fall under Android smartphone users. They will all be happy with the Windows 11 update to download their favourite Android Apps from Amazon Appstore.

  • Welcome back Widgets

The older versions of Windows OS had Widgets, and it was good to see desired information on the screen using those widgets. After being away from the widgets for more than a decade, Microsoft introduces the concept of faster widgets again through Windows 11.

Windows 11 Widgets

It is more like a personalized feed on the Microsoft Edge browser home screen but in attractive and huge tiles. It will be useful to have a quick glance at the outer world while you are so immersed in the office work.

  • Start button at the center

By placing the start button and other taskbar icons at the center, Microsoft brings the Macbook like dock feature on Windows OS through Windows 11. You can easily find the apps or docs you are looking for through the Start button.

Start Button at the center

For those who want the Start button at its traditional location, Windows 11 will allow you to do the same. No matter where the Start button is located on your screen, Windows 11 will display your recent files using Microsoft 365 and the power of the cloud.

  • Aesthetically appealing

Since there is a lot of transparency among all the elements of Windows 11, it really makes you feel like holding a glass. For instance, the start menu is transparent to let you see the desktop background beautifully through it.

Similarly, the menus and other elements are also transparent. In addition to the transparency, you can also notice other aesthetically pleasing features such as rounded corners, drop shadows, and background blur.

  • Snap Layouts, Groups and Desktops

Unlike other operating systems, Windows OS is known for its multitasking functionalities. Users can view several windows at once and work efficiently without switching between the tabs every now and then.

Windows 11 Snap Layouts

Through Windows 11, Microsoft will enhance this user experience through Snap Layouts, Groups and Desktops. You can decide and organize the windows you want to see in layouts on Windows 11, and it also allows you to create separate desktops for each kind of your life.

  • Teams Integration

The pandemic has made our conversations more virtual, and now most of us don’t want to go back to the ancient modes of working from the office. To support the virtual interactions, Windows 11 will introduce a taskbar integrated with the Microsoft Teams.

Windows 11 Teams Integration

You can contact your beloved ones or colleagues right from the taskbar via video, audio or chat. Windows 11 will also allow you to mute or unmute the Microsoft Teams call from the taskbar.

  • A better gaming experience

According to the official Windows Blog, “If you are a gamer, Windows 11 is made for you.” We don’t deny this statement as the Windows OS is better known for supporting gamers across the globe.

WIndows 11 Gaming Experience

Microsoft will take this already better gaming experience to the next level by supporting DirectX 12 Ultimate and DirectStorage for outstanding graphics at higher frame rates and faster game loads to provide you with a real-world-like experience.

  • An all-new Microsoft Store

The official app store of each operating system is known for offering better protection. However, some malicious apps still make it to the list of each app store by taking advantage of the Appstore’s vulnerabilities. That being said, we all love Windows Appstore, in which almost all the necessary apps are already available for you to download.

Windows 11 AppStore

In the Windows 11 OS, you will find support for more widely used apps such as Canva, Zoom, Adobe Creative Cloud, Disney+, Visual Studio, and Microsoft Teams. I am stunned and pleased at the same time to know that we can download Visual Studio and Adobe Creative Cloud from Microsoft’s Appstore for Windows 11. What about you?

  • Windows 11 means good news to developers and creators

Windows 11 will allow developers to bring more audience to their apps. It doesn’t matter if the apps are built as a Win32, Universal Windows App (UWP), Progressive Web App (PWA), or any other framework. You can still avail this benefit if you are a developer.

Windows 11 Welcome Home

Besides that, Microsoft will also allow you to bring your commerce to the apps and expect zero profit from the apps’ revenue. You can choose whether to still support the 85/15 revenue share or not pay a penny at all to the company. The choice is entirely yours.

  • Free Upgrade for Windows 10 PCs

According to the official Windows Blog, Microsoft will offer you Windows 11 for free if your PC is eligible to receive the update depending on the specifications required. Though there’s a debate that Windows 11 might not be available on older PCs, we expect it to be available on most laptops already being used in the market.

Let us now have a look at the Windows 11 disadvantages.

Windows 11 Cons

  • Where’s Skype, Dude?

If you are a 90’s kid, you know that video calling became more familiar to us through apps like Skype. Today, we can see several organizations ditching Skype for Microsoft Teams, and there are also other alternate options in the market for Skype. However, today’s market still has users who rely only on the Skype application to connect with their beloved ones. If I am not wrong, most of the older generation today still use Skype to communicate with their sons or daughters who work from another location. What will happen to them if only Teams is integrated on the taskbar? I am not saying that the integration of Microsoft Teams on the Windows 11 taskbar is a mistake. But its implementation should have been better, and the choice should have been given to the users. Only Microsoft Teams in the taskbar means the company wants everyone to use only Microsoft Teams.

  • Though upgrade is free, it is still expensive

Microsoft promised that the current Windows 10 users would receive the Windows 11 upgrade for free. But not everyone would obtain this update. The operating system requires a GPU at least to support DirectX 12 with a WDDM 2.0 driver. Recently, several users came out openly on Twitter to express their displeasure since they have old PCs. It means you will have to upgrade your hardware or buy a new laptop or desktop to enjoy a seamless experience on Windows 11.

  • Goodbye Cortana

Cortana, Microsoft’s answer to Google Assistant, Siri, and Alexa of Google, Apple, and Amazon, respectively, will not be part of the Windows 11. In a way, this is not a disadvantage because we never used Cortana, did we? But if your life depends on Cortana, you can still install it as a separate app. Thank you, Windows 11 and Microsoft, for the same.

  • No Timeline

If you click on the Task View icon on your Windows 10 taskbar and keep scrolling down, it will display your activities in a timeline manner. This feature is rarely known to people.

Windows 10 Timeline

However, if you belong to that section of rare individuals, please do not install Windows 11 as the timeline feature will not be available on the Windows 11 OS.

  • You might not have a good experience

Yes, you can debate that Windows 11 is very fancy and aesthetically pleasing, and probably many other things as well. But if you have an older PC, then you might not really be able to enjoy Windows 11. Although a few components in your system might support the upgrade, the rest might not offer the same. So you will have to think twice before installing Windows 11.

Listed above are the Windows 11 Pros and Cons. Please let us know in the comments section below if you would like to add something.

Whether you like it or not, Windows 11 will definitely replace your current OS someday in the future. Now that Microsoft has announced it as their official upcoming OS, there’s no turning back. We are not trying to scare you that Windows 11 is a bad upgrade through this post on Windows 11 Pros and Cons. No, it’s not. It certainly is one of the best things Microsoft has come up with. Since I use Microsoft apps to plan and perform all my tasks, and other apps such as Visual Studio and Adobe Creative Cloud will be available through Microsoft Appstore, I can’t really wait to obtain this update.
