Like it or hate it, the Truecaller has introduced a call recording feature, and you will have to live with it. Even if you disable the call recording on your mobile phone, the chances are high that your opponent will record the call easily using the call recording feature of Truecaller.
The call recording feature is not a new thing in the world of smartphones. It has been available in the market for the past several years now. Initially, there were apps in the Google Playstore that provided this feature. And you saw this feature available by default on the smartphones of Chinese manufacturers.
Now that it is available on the Truecaller, you might want to know the steps to enable this feature on your Android Smartphone. If this feature is not available on your mobile phone yet, do not panic or get worried, as it might take time for the update to reach your device.
How to enable call recording on Truecaller and record the calls?
- Step 1: Navigate to Settings –> Accessibility on your device and allow permission for the Truecaller to record the calls
- Step 2: To record the calls, click on the record button on the screen whenever you make or receive a call
There are reports that this call recording feature was already available on the Truecaller app since 2018, but only for paid users. I was a paid user, and I never noticed this feature. Therefore, I am not sure about its availability for the past three years for premium users.

Truecaller was blocklisted by the Indian Army earlier this year, citing privacy issues. I am also not a big fan of recording the call, and in fact, I got panicked when a Rec pop up button was displayed on my Android smartphone screen by default when I answered a call. Well, that’s not surprising, considering the app we are talking about is the Truecaller.

How to disable call recording on Truecaller?
- Step 1: Open the Truecaller app on your Android smartphone and click on the hamburger button on the top-left corner of the app
- Step 2: Click on ‘Call recordings’ and toggle the option to turn off the call recording
Following the steps mentioned above will disable the rec button from appearing on the screen whenever you make or receive a call. This will be helpful for those of you who are anxious about your calls getting recorded. I say so because this rec button appeared when I was on a Duo call.
Lastly, we are living in the age of data and chats being leaked. So, think twice before recording the calls if you are someone who makes calls frequently with your beloved ones.
